Towards A Virtual North American Region

One of the outcomes from an earlier North American Conference was the idea of a "Virtual North American Region", whereby International Centres in North America should host their "www" pages locally, either on a single host computer, or be linked to other North American Centre home pages.

Canada

Ottawa Centre

IET Ottawa Home Page

The IET Ottawa Centre has about 420 members in the Ottawa/Hull/Kingston area. The National Capital Region is the centre of high-tech in Canada, and many of our members work in communications, consumer electronics and the public service.

Toronto Centre

IET Toronto Centre Home Page

The Toronto Centre, the first Canadian Branch of the IET was started by the late Dr John Thompson, FIEE, and the late Mr Harry Copping, FIEE, in Toronto in the early 1950's.  Today the Branch now known as the Toronto Centre of the IET is the second largest of the IET Overseas Centres.

Western Canada Centre

Western Canada Group of Chartered Engineers

Founded in 1987 as an amalgamation of the Western Canada branches of the Institutions of Civil, Mechanical and Electrical Engineers, the Group expanded in 1994 to include members of the Institutions of Structural and Chemical Engineers. It now represents over 1000 members of these U.K. engineering Institutions, residents of B.C., Yukon, Washington State, and Alaska.

Canadian Prairies Group of Chartered Engineers

The Canadian Prairies Group of Chartered Engineers (CPGCE) is an association of Chartered Engineers: who are based in the Canadian Provinces of Alberta and Saskatchwan and the North West Territories and are corporate menbers of the UK sponsoring Institutions (i.e. Institution of Civil Engineers, Institution of Electrical Engineers, Institution of Mechanical Engineers, Institution of Chemical Engineers and Institution of Structural Engineers.)

Montreal Centre Home Page

Founded in the late 60's, the Montreal Centre has represented IET members throughout Eastern Canada.  For its members in the greater Montreal area it provides monthly visits and technical presentations from September to May in addition to social functions at Christmas and in the summer.

U.S.A.

New England Centre

IET New England Centre

The center provides information about our local activities in and around the New England Region.  The centre serves members from the New England states of Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Rhode Island, and Vermont as well as the state of New York (approximately 770 miles from end to end).

West Coast Centre

IET West Coast Center

The center provides activities for IET members and their guests in the Western USA.  The Center was formed in 1984.
